Ta Pobail Le Chéile ar bun ón bhliain 1999 mar chumann de dhaoine ón phobal a bhfuil suim acu i bhforbairt agus imní orthu faoi na deacrachtaí atá sa cheantar. On bhliain 2002, tá sé maoinithe mar Chomhlacht Teo. a fhostaíonn beirt. Tugann an Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta tacaíocht don tógra seo ata ag díriú isteach ar an Teaghlach, an Aos Óg agus Aosaigh, le béim speisialta ar bhochtanas, mhíbhuntáiste agus iargúltacht.

We are based in the district of Cloughaneely including the towns of Falcarragh and Gortahork, the surrounding townlands and islands, an area with a population of over 5,000, and we deliver some services and programmes across North West Donegal.

Pobail Le Cheile at the YARD

2009 saw the YARD evolve into the base for the whole CDP Project. We worked to renovate the top floor into workspaces for both staff and arts & crafts tenants, many of whom part-pay their rent through arts initiatives in the community project. The original aim of the YARD project was to develop an integrated community youth arts and recreation initiative in the Cloughaneely area by giving young people support and assisting their skills in a creative accessible way. It has now developed into a multi-use community venue.

The single most important development with the YARD has been the growth for the community garden with its series of raised beds, cold frames and large poly-tunnel. This enabled the planting and harvesting of a range of organic produce through the year and provided the venue for the pilot course ‘Healthy Gardening’ supported by the Donegal VEC and HSE Health Promotion. We have developed the grounds around our centre into a restful eco-garden preserving old plant species and labeling all the plants as Gaeilge agus as Bearla. This has become a lovely, quiet space for the Parent & Toddler group, Cumann Cairdeas and The Community Youth Project. We support the above groups and provide community education courses, multicultural and friendship events and cultural outings too.

The Project can offer volunteering opportunities across a wide range of activities and we can help people 'donate' some of their time - even a an hour or two a month can make a world of a difference - and support their volunteering.
