Friendship Club 50+

Friendship Club for the 50+ age group. We meet every Tuesday from 11am-1pm in Garradh Cholm Cille. Cumann Cairdeas is an active age group going from strength to strength. The ethos of Cumann Cairdeas is friendship, lifelong learning and personal development. We have been getting-together every Tuesday since February 2004.

Wall Hanging Project

In January 2010 we began work on a wall hanging with local artist Karen Blaney. This project is funded by the HSE and the resulting piece of art will be hung in the gynaecological ward of Letterkenny General Hospital.

Other activities so far this year include: trips to Strabane, Donegal Museum and the Letterkenny Cinema to see ‘Avatar’. We had workshops in gardening skills and we painted our own pottery! Cumann Cairdeas organised two fundraising coffee mornings. One for the Irish Cancer Society and the other for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

We enjoyed cookery demonstrations and a workshop with Derek O’Connor on ‘Older people as Community Assets.’ There are many more trips, guest speakers and coffee mornings to come in 2010. So watch this space…
